DP2A presents a night of glamour and fun where passport holders will once again travel to the Detroit Film Theatre for a private viewing of the 2014 Oscar Nominated Short Films. Walk the red carpet and make sure you dress to impress!

Our after party will once again take place across the street at the Detroit Historical Museum. Come enjoy food, drinks, and live entertainment! 

Itinerary

6PM: Red Carpet opens - sponsored by Changez Salon

7PM: Academy Award nominated short films begin

9:30PM (approximately): After party begins at the Detroit Historical Museum

Parking 

$5.00 parking in the DIA’s Cultural Center lot on John R. Rd. right across from the Detroit Film Theatre. There is also street parking available.

Films 

GET A HORSE! (USA–Directors: Lauren MacMullan and Dorothy McKim). Synopsis: Mickey Mouse and his friends are enjoying a wagon ride until Peg-Leg Pete shows up with plans to ruin their day. (Animation, 6 minutes)

HELIUM (Denmark–Directors Anders Walter and Kim Magnusson). Synopsis: A dying boy finds comfort in the tales of a magical land called HELIUM, told to him by the hospital janitor. (Live action, 23 minutes)

THE VOORMAN PROBLEM (UK–Directors: Mark Gill and Baldwin Li). Synopsis: A psychiatrist is called to a prison to examine an inmate named Voorman, who is convinced he is a god. (Live action, 13 minutes)

MR. HUBLOT (Luxembourg/France/Directors: Laurent Witz and Alexandre Espigares). Synopsis: The eccentric, isolated Mr. Hublot finds his carefully ordered world disrupted by the arrival of Robot Pet. (Animation, 11 minutes)

JUST BEFORE LOSING EVERYTHING (France–Directors: Xavier Legrand and Alexandre Gavras). Synopsis: Miriam has left her abusive husband and taken refuge with her children in the local supermarket where she works. (Live action, 30 minutes)

DO I HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF EVERYTHING? (Finland–Directors: Selma Vilhunen and Kirsikka Saari). Synopsis: Sini tries frantically to get her family ready to leave for a wedding, but her husband and two children are interfering with her efforts. (Live action, 7 minutes)

After Party

Following the films we’ll head to the Detroit Historical Museum (just across Woodward) for our after party event. Enjoy live music, appetizers, and drinks while exploring the museum’s newest exhibit “Out on the Town: Drinking and Dining in Detroit Since 1920.” Find out more about here.
