Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings

Saturday, June 19, 2010
Dual Season Finale

22305 West 13 Mile Rd
Beverly Hills, MI 48025

ORGANIZATIONAL HISTORY – DCWS
Founded in 1982, Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings is an ensemble committed to bringing to life the large and wonderful body of repertoire that utilizes between six and 20 musicians. Many of these works go largely unheard in professional concert halls due to their unusual instrumentation. Originally focusing on music for wind and brass players, the organization has recently expanded to encompass an outstanding component of string instrumentalists.

ORGANIZATIONAL HISTORY – GLCMF
The Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival was born in 1994 of a remarkable relationship between religious and cultural institutions. A secular event, the Festival is sponsored by three religious institutions (representing Catholic, Jewish, and Protestant faiths) and Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings, a prominent musical ensemble that also provides administration for the Festival.

In two weeks each June, the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival presents nearly 20 concerts in southeastern Michigan. Many of these performances occur in the venues of the Festival’s sponsors – St. Hugo of the Hills Catholic Church, Temple Beth El, and Kirk in the Hills.
